Marshall Infill
Located in central Michigan, the small town of Marshall has a beautiful historic main street, Michigan Avenue. However, there are a few empty lots and room for improvement along this popular thoroughfare.
 Designing within the context is vital for a background building - or infill construction. In order to express the local culture, careful research is done on the local materials, details, heights, etc. If not designed correctly, the building will stand out too much and become unappreciated by locals and visitors alike. This is the design of a background building in a current empty lot, along the north-central part of the historic main street of Michigan Avenue. It is a simple mixed-use building, with retail space on the main floor and residential units on the second and third floors.  |
